Here is (from left to right) one of our camera guys John Casey, our production designer Jon Leebrick, and our VFX guy Ryan Lucas.

And here is our awesome 1st AD Tedric Huff.

Figuring out lighting for the basement scene.

Part of the eventual lighting setup.

This is where "blocking" begins. The sets are all built and now we have to run through our shots.
35mm film is expensive as hell so we absolutely have to know what we're doing before we start filming for real.

Basically we set up all our more difficult shots and act them out before we even get the actors on the set.
Here is our camera crew working out the opening shot.

Setting up the track for the first dolly shot.

Behind the set we have an iBook hooked up to the video feed.
This way, even though we're recording on film, we still have an accurate way of telling how the shot went (for continuity purposes.)
Every shot we take is recorded onto the iBook in low quality DV video - which we can then edit on the spot to see if the scene is working or if we need additional shots.

Here is me going over some shot changes.

And my good friend and co-director Alison Capra going over the storyboards I've drawn up with one of our camera guys.

Mrs. Capra again.
