Another update…

Posted by Jason Steele | Sunday 24 January 2010 10:41 pm

Sorry, I got sick for a week, and then my dog got sick, and then I had a bunch of other projects show up that I had to get done.  I have one scene left to edit and then “Doctor Fabulous” will be finished.  Of course it’s also the most complicated scene in the movie so don’t expect this to be released before next week.

Also, to the few of you who occasionally make fake “Jason Steele” comments pretending to be me: the comments here have to be manually approved by me before going public.  So whenever you post as “Jason Steele,” or spam, or whatever, no one ever sees it but you.  So please stop, it’s gay.

Doctor Fabulous progress update…

Posted by Jason Steele | Friday 15 January 2010 5:10 pm

Hey everyone, I’m still editing “Doctor Fabulous.”  I expect to release this in about a week.  Sorry for the delay, there’s just a ton of stuff I needed to do for this short.

More updates to come!

Happy New Year, you maniacs you…

Posted by Jason Steele | Saturday 2 January 2010 11:50 am

Well I’m back.  I spent the last week or so filming “The Cosmic Adventures of Doctor Fabulous”, the new live-action FilmCow short set be released around January 15th.  If you own the “FilmCow Master Collection” you probably recognize the title – it was one of the joke menus.  Well, now it’s an actual movie!  Hooray!  Death Bat 4 here we come!

LOOK AT ALL OF THOSE TAPES GOOD GOLLY

Doctor Fabulous will only be a 10 minute video, but I shot more footage for this than any other movie I’ve ever made.  There is, in total, around nine hours worth of raw video.  I’m importing the tapes now – it’s going to take me all day.

To put this in perspective, “World of Dentists,” which was 20 minutes, only had four and a half hours worth of stuff shot for it.  So this movie, which is twice as short, has twice as much raw video.

If we had shot this much footage on 35mm film stock instead of HDV, the film itself would have cost us 32 thousand dollars – and processing would have been about that much as well.  Three cheers for the digital age!  Screw you celuloid!  You’re not my real mom!

I’ll keep you all updated as to my editing progress.

Llamas with Hats 2

Posted by Jason Steele | Monday 21 December 2009 8:46 pm

Sorry about the lack of posts lately, I’ve been busy with stuff and things.  One of the stuffs that I’ve been busy with is Llamas with Hats 2, which is now COMPLETE.

ENJOY THIS LLAMA AND HAT FILLED ADVENTURE.

This is the first FilmCow movie to be uploading to YouTube in HD.  Why?  Because YouTube decided to change their behind-the-scenes encoder and make non-HD uploads have crap audio.  I seriously had to re-render Llamas with Hats in HD just to get the SD version to sound right on YouTube.  SO IT GOES.

ROFLCon

Posted by Jason Steele | Monday 30 November 2009 6:55 pm

I’ve been asked to speak at next year’s “ROFLCon,” which is a conference for rofls.

Last year they had Andy Ochiltree from JibJab, Matt Harding of “Where the Hell is Matt” fame, Lemon Demon, Group X, moot from 4chan, Michael Buckley of What the Buck, iJustine, and lots of other awesome “people who are famous on the internet.”  Hopefully ROFLCon II will be just as swell.

I still don’t have a lot of details yet, but hopefully I’ll be able to give a paradigm-changing two hour speech about recent advances in hydrobiology.

Charlie the Unicorn “Hot Topic” video…

Posted by Jason Steele | Friday 20 November 2009 2:25 pm

This is the short Charlie cartoon I did for Hot Topic around the time Charlie 3 came out.  Hot Topic took the video off their site a while ago, so I’ve decided to put it up on FilmCow.

A quick update…

Posted by Jason Steele | Wednesday 11 November 2009 2:32 pm

It’s possible that “Llamas 2″ will be out before “A Serious Business Meeting.”  I’ve been working on both, and I’m thinking it would be better not to have two “crazy office life” videos released back to back.  “A Serious Business Meeting” is totally different than “The Interview”, but still… they both take place in an office and both contain crazy office shenanigans.  We’ll see.

Also, it was brought to my attention that the Charlie the Unicorn “Hot Topic” video was taken down from the Hot Topic website a while back, and thus is no longer available anywhere on the web.  So I’ve decided to put it up on YouTube and FilmCow, which will happen in the next couple of weeks (after I tweak it a little.)

In other news, my friend Robert Benfer is now offering his feature length claymation “Klay World: Off the Table” as a download for only 5 bucks:

For those of you who haven’t seen it, it’s hilarious.

Updates…

Posted by Jason Steele | Wednesday 7 October 2009 12:07 pm

So I guess MySpace has died, huh? I got 225 people joining the FilmCow Facebook account in the time it took me to get 17 on MySpace.

I’ve taken the MySpace link off the front page of FilmCow. I’ll keep the account up and I’ll keep updating the music there for people who want to add FilmCow songs to their profile, but it just doesn’t look like a lot of people are interested in MySpace anymore.

If anyone has any suggestions as to something they’d like to see on FilmCow let me know. A long time ago I was getting a lot of requests to start a forum on FilmCow, but I delayed setting one up because I was sure that nobody would want to post there. And now the forum has over a million and a half posts. So I’m certainly willing to listen to suggestions considering how epically wrong I’ve been about this stuff in the past.

As for movie updates, I actually have a good number of videos I’m planning on releasing soon that have been mostly finished for a while now. This includes “The Interview,” “A Serious Business Meeting,” “Llamas with Hats 2″ and “Bino the Elephant.” The first two (Interview and Business Meeting) should be out in a week or two. I’m not going to give a timeframe on the new Llamas video or Bino because something could always come up to delay those.

And yes, I am still working on the Spatula Madness feature, and no, I don’t have any updates on that right now.

Well, I’m off to the store. To buy stuff. Like batteries.

FilmCow on the web…

Posted by Jason Steele | Monday 5 October 2009 11:42 pm

Well, I’ve decided it’s probably a good idea to give FilmCow a presence on all those “social networking” sites you kids are spending so much time destroying your brain on.

FilmCow is now on MySpace, Facebook and Twitter:

http://www.myspace.com/filmcow
http://www.facebook.com/pages/FilmCow/148424013951
http://twitter.com/filmcow

If you use those sites please add me so that I do not look friend-less and sad. Also, please tell me what I should add to my MySpace and Facebook pages to make them less lame.
